Apollo Lamp

This project is during the University of Michigan MPowered Entrepreneurship Makeathon, a 36-hour product design competition.

Some of the challenges other than a short period are the unknows: who are you teaming up with, what is supplies, what tools will be accessible and no idea on what to build.

After creating our teams and brainstorming we decided to make something that was both aesthetically pleasing, fun to play with and educational — the idea to make a lamp that allows you to control the color values of the lights inside.

Below is the prototype we built, which ultimately won us the competition in the Toys and Entertainment category.

We are planning on pursuing the project further, and possibly doing a limited production run of the lamp once we finalize all hardware and design details.
